Musings of a Pilgrim-Meditaciones de un Peregrino: DICHOS MEXICANOS (rough translations)

James Lopez has started an interesting bilingual blog. Recently he did a pair of posts, one primarily in Spanish, the second (the one I link to above) entirely in English. He introduced the project this way:

I thought I would say some of the sayings that are common in Mexico that add spice to the language and don't always translate well...
For example, taking the relevant bit from each post:

3. ¡AY, QUE RECHINAR DE PUERTAS! ¡PARECE CARPINTERIA! - cuando estamos discutiendo algo importante y se mete alguien que no tiene vela en el entierro.

3. What a squeaking of doors; sounds like a carpenter's shop - refers to those times when an important discussion is happening and someone contributes who has no idea what is being discussed.
