Dave Shiflett writes in the March 4, 2005, OpinionJournal.com, about what happened when some Presbyterians decided to see if they could get a theater interested in putting on a play that addressed, to some degree, matters of faith.
The short answer: Acts of Faith, a six-week festival with ten plays in ten theaters. For the longer, better answer, read the article (linked above).
Shiflett is the author of Exodus: Why Americans are Fleeing Liberal Churches for Conservative Christianity, published by Sentinel, due out shortly in hardcover, 224 pp, ISBN 1595230076. Pre-orders are being taken at barnesandnoble.com and at amazon.com, just for starters.
Oh, this is mildly interesting. At amazon.com, the price is $16.29 and the release date is June 6. At barnesandnoble.com, the price is $19.16 ($18.20 for members), but the availability date is May 28. When I went to BestBookBuys (actually http://www.bestwebbuys.com/books/compare/isbn/1595230076), Powell's had the highest price but claimed to have it in stock. Well.... You go to the website, and 'in stock' means you can preorder for late May shipment. You have to be careful with those 'in stock' notices on price comparison sites. They're compiling from different database set-ups and sometimes you get a false positive.
