KoLiber.net - Poland for Terri

Europeans wade in.

A Polish website (I presume it's a Polish website) asks its readers in both Polish (I presume it's Polish) and English, to fight for Terri Schiavo's life. They have links to petitions, invitations to a peaceful demonstration, something called a Flood Florida campaign, and have sent letters to President Bush and Governor Bush.

I love these guys. I've started to walk on eggshells, hoping to reach fence-sitters without triggering some sort of automatic aversion response. These folks, they're not afraid to say:

Dear President Bush, dear Governor Bush,

I am writing to you on behalf of the KoLiber Association of Poland. As members of the international community watching the Schiavo case taking place in the state of Florida, we appeal to you to stand up for the premises on which the United States, an icon of freedom and respect for human rights, was founded.

We ask you to prevent the cold-blooded murder of an innocent woman by her husband, a man of doubtful moral standing, and a judge with clear bias and disregard for the Law. In the light of the recent allegations of domestic abuse, it is imperative, that this case be investigated further and the real culprits brought to justice.

We implore you, do not allow the savage act of starving a helpless, disabled U.S. citizen to be carried out on your watch. Theresa Marie Schiavo cannot speak for herself, but she has an army of people fighting for her basic human right not to be brutally murdered. Do stand at the front of this army. Do lead this campaign against domestic terrorism and cruelty towards the disabled to victory.

By doing so, you will save the life of Terri and future victims of similar abuse of women and the disabled. You will also prevent from distortion the image of the U.S. as a country of exemplary respect for human values.

The international community is watching as you make your crucial decisions.

Yours sincerely,

Joanna Ewa Najfeld
Spokesman,
The KoLiber Association, Poland
