Various news agencies are reporting a 7.0 quake for southern Japan, with tsunamis predicted. But a quick check here (title link) shows that the quake in question was downgraded to a 6.4 - still very big, but not as likely to swamp surrounding areas at least.
This map on the USGS site updates constantly, 24/7. For areas other than Asia, go to the menu at the left of the screen.
