Well-known author Orson Scott Card looks at The Wisdom of Crowds: Why the Many Are Smarter than the Few and How Collective Wisdom Shapes Business, Economies, Societies, and Nations by James Surowiecki, a business writer for The New Yorker; with a side mention of Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel.
