Blogger Help : What are backlinks and how do I use them?

I didn't know that Blogger had a feature like trackbacks. Backlinks seem to be automatic, though. If I get too much spam or too many ugly links I'll shut it down again, but for now I'm going to try it. (Crossing fingers, taking deep breath, adding feature, republishing blog to activate, hoping for the best...).
