"Works-For-Me Wednesday": Dividing the covers

Well, it's Works-For-Me Wednesday over at Rocks In My Dryer, with a lot of participants already, I see. (I'm finally sitting down to this task during the lunch hour.)

My tip this week: I made four smaller quilts, roughly lap quilt size, for our double bed, instead of one large one. That way, my husband has two and I have two, and we can easily adjust how much 'extra covering' we have, without having to figure out how to pull a quilt over our shoulders or shove covers off without causing a hassle for the other person. Most of the year I use one quilt, just over my legs and feet. During the deep of winter, I add the quilt for my upper half. In warmer weather, I don't use either. My husband doesn't feel the cold the same way I do, and his side is often a quilt or two shy of mine. Works for us.

Two separate quilts is a necessity for some, I think! It is for us- so why haven't I tried this yet? Thanks for the reminder!

I do something similar, I use a twin size afghan on my side of the bed over the comforter. Where as sometimes hubby doesn't use any covers at all.

I'm an extra blanket person too, I'd rather 2 thin blankets than 1 thick blanket. I guess the air moves between the blankets so it's not so stifling.

I do what Maria does. My husband is like a walking electric blanket - he just stays warm. I'm skinny and get cold. Give me the extra quilted coverlet and he goes without. Great idea!

That's a nice idea. My husband and I share one blanket, but always have varying numbers of other blankets draped across our separate sides of the bed. It helps that we have a large bed.

We have a kingsize bed....but we did this years ago. I got so tired of being mad when he would steal the covers. Now we both have our own douvets. I coordinated the colors so it looks nice and much more functional.
Great tip!
Thanks for the visit!
