Thirty years ago this week a couple of guys tried to burn an American flag during a major league baseball game at Dodger Stadium. They didn't reckon on Rick Monday and company. May I suggest that you take two minutes and twenty seconds to listen to the recording of Vin Scully's call of the event (one of several links at the top of the article)?
There's an effort underway to find any fan pictures that might be out there of Monday's risky rescue of the flag (it was doused in lighter fluid, and the 'protestors' tried to douse him with lighter fluid, too), and to collect thoughts from people who were at the game, or military veterans. See the bottom of Ben Platt's April 25, 2006, MLB.com article (linked above) for more details and the e-mail address.
