How thoughtful of you to link, and I so appreciate your response to this. I find I can't get past this visit. I went expecting to honor her, as the Scriptures say, and expecting her not to know me. I didn't expect to fall in love with the woman she is now, and to miss her this much after I left. Although I defend life and would challenge anyone who doesn't, I think I subconsciously was valuing a person more if they had all their cognitive ability, though it disturbs me to admit that - as though "she doesn't know anyone anymore" somehow is the end of everything.
