The Welsh are famously fond of rugby, etc.

I somewhat accidentally subscribed to the Scotsman's business headlines e-mail newsletter a while back. One of the unexpected benefits was a small box underneath the headline and story teasers called Fact of the Day. I have had great fun with the facts of the day, which are usually tiny history stories, often humorous/humourous, and generally used as a tease to some other part of the paper that you might not otherwise think to look at. How much nicer than banner ads, etc., all in all. I, myself, am not a rugby fan, but for those of you who have never seen a Scotsman Fact of the Day:
Today is St David's day, the national day of our cheerful Celtic chums the Welsh - meaning a day of daffodils, leeks and male voice choirs. The Welsh are, of course, famously fond of - and currently rather good at - rugby, and they now need to beat Scotland for what could be a final Grand Slam showdown with Ireland. Keep yourself informed of how Wales, Scotland and everybody else is getting on in the RBS Six Nations Championship
