The blogger Photios recently wondered what had become of a conductor who had a large impact on his life years ago. He found that the man died just a few months ago. Carlo Maria Giulini was 91 when he died in northern Italy. He conducted in both Europe and America in a career that spanned several decades. He resigned from the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1985 to spend more time with his ailing wife, Marcella, who died in 1995.
