Welcome. Around here we discuss books, history, current events, home life, and other things. Politely. (And mostly with good cheer.) The idea is to share information and ideas, and help each other out a bit when we can.

Book note: Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity by John Stossel
Not really that big of a movie for ABC News. After all, they took many unpaid interns who went to ABC to gain journalism experience, and let Stossel monopolize their entire internships in order to do the research "proving" his opinions.
I wonder about ABC News. It might have been my imgination, but the first night (by happenstance I caught it; never watch network news) of Charles Gibson (ABC WORLD NEWS) gave a different tone from that wellknown sneer of Peter Jennings.
One story caught a sympathetic look at an Iraqi veteran. Another looked at the place of 'political correctedness.' Not much to go by, but if ABC were to actually become actually AMERICAN.. well, no chance, my cynicism says.
Only faint memories of a time when American news was AMERICAN news.
